Our mission

Aeon Solar & Electrical wants their clients to become less or completely independent from the municipal electrical supply and to enjoy uninterrupted electrical supply. Currently electricity supply is not only unreliable, but also very costly. Escalating year on year, far above inflation, we realise consumers have no other option than to revert to alternative means of power supply and Aeon Solar wants to assist in having another power solution.

Solar: How it works

Understand and know your energy usage requirements.

This will in turn determine what the size of your solar PV system should be. How many kilowatt-hours (kWh) / units per day does your home typically use? Once you engage with us for providing our services, we shall determine your energy usage as part of our assessment

Do you have the roof space available for installation of the PV panels?

The angle, direction and any shade on your roof determine the amount of electricity can be generated from the sun. North-facing roofs receive the most sunlight in South Africa but having half of your panels facing East and the other half facing West is also a good option. Solar panels can be installed on roofs with up to 45-degree angle whereas +/- 35 degrees provides the best angle. For flat roofs, an angled mounting system can be installed.

Decide on the type of system you need.

Do you want to be grid-connected, completely off-grid, or do you want power backup only? The size of the battery storage system will determine how long your home can be running on the system overnight or during load shedding. You can also opt for a backup system only to have power back up during load shedding.

Assess, evaluate & estimate

Aeon Solar & Electrical will make a site assessment to evaluate you’re your current electrical installation, energy usage needs, the appropriateness of your roof and the type of system you require.

Thereafter we provide you with a quotation to install a solar PV system according to our assessment and your specific needs.

Your energy usage requirements determines the size of your solar PV system – to be totally independent from the municipal supply grid is not necessarily financially viable. A realistic expectation would be to still use 10 – 20% of the municipal supply grid due to seasonal and weather changes determining the amount of electricity that can be produced by your solar PV system as well as the size of the battery storage system you want to invest in.

Once our installers make alterations to your installation, our installers become responsible for the compliance of your installation. Aeon Solar therefore needs to conduct an electrical compliance inspection before any work may be done on your property.

There is no “next day installation” that can be legally compliant. Municipalities require from home owners to make the necessary applications before a solar PV system may be installed on your property, all to comply with various by-laws and safety regulations. Should an installer ignore these requirements, the home owner may still be legally liable for non-compliance of such by-laws. This application process may take a couple of weeks, depending on the Municipality in your area.

Aeon Solar only installs Victron Energy systems as Victron has the track record and the reputation to back their equipment. There are cheaper options available in the market, but Aeon Solar has opted not to sacrifice its reputation to install equipment that cannot live up to the Aeon Solar promise of “service excellence”.
